Management funda of a Dog and Donkey

One night when the entire world was sleeping, a thief entered into room of a washer man.
Washer man was in deep sleep, but his dog and donkey was awake. Since dog was not receiving his master’s due attention these days, wanted to teach him a lesion and didn’t bark.

Donkey started worrying and told the dog that if you don’t bark he will have to do something. Observing that there is no impact of his request on dog, he started braying loudly.  Thief went away by seeing donkey making noise. Now washer man got awake and started beating the donkey for making unnecessary noise and disturbing his sleep.

So the moral of this story is that you don’t get benefit by intervening into the works of others or doing the partial work left by others. So stay self-focused and stay happy.

Now let us see another aspect of this story: Washer man was a top class management corporate professional. He had caliber of seeing and thinking the same thing from different prospective/point of view. He was sure that there must be a reason behind donkey braying at mid-night, so he went outside the house and after analyzing the prima-facie he concluded that thief had entered his house and donkey was just trying to alert him.

Seeing the pro-activeness and willingness of taking up extra responsibilities, donkey was given lots of grass and no sooner he became a favorite animal of his master. On the other hand there were no changes in the life of the dog except this fact that now donkey had started performing his duties with full zeal and happiness. At the time of appraisal, dog received 8 rating while donkey received 9.

Soon Dog realized that almost all of his responsibilities were taken up by donkey and he can rest very easily whereas expectation of good performance from donkey increased exponentially. While dog was enjoying his life without any tension, donkey had heavy work load and started remaining stressed most of the time & started contemplating to leave washer man’s house.

Again the moral of this story is same that you don’t get anything by intervening into the works of others or doing the parts thereof. So focus on yourself and stay happy.

Quit these things to get success

We often get stuck in a hamster wheel of habit. We do things that aren't good for us, remain where we shouldn't and put ourselves through voluntary suffering all in the name of comfort. But a rare few snap out of it. House of Cards gives you an insight into the 6 things you need to quit doing, which will help you reinvent yourself.
  1. Quit Stopping: They say that at the very moment you want to quit, you're actually almost there. Remember why you started it, then push onward. If you stop and think about quitting, you'll never know what it feels like to reach the finish line.
  2. Quit Saying Tomorrow : — You know the saying, 'Yesterday you said tomorrow?' Delaying something that you think is important means one of two things: you're either scared to start because it means your life will change or you want it for the wrong reasons. Get things done!
  3. Quit Being A Victim : — You have a choice in everything you do. If you're choosing to remain in a place that isn't positive, you're victimizing yourself. If you seek advice and respond with 'but I can't' too many times, you officially become a victim.
  4. Quit Saying Yes : — Whenever we say yes to something, we're saying no to something else. Analyze when you're saying yes and what you're trading it for. You might find yourself saying yes to things you don't even care about and no to things that could make your life better in some way.
  5. Quit Expecting : — If you really have your heart set on something (like a promotion), you must be vocal about it. If you don't speak up, you're leaving the translation up to them. Expect at your own risk.
  6. Quit Avoiding : — We all have things we don't want to do, but we have to do them because we're adults. You can't pluck the fun parts out and leave the tough parts on the table. Quit avoiding it. There will be rewards along the way and there will be a great sense of accomplishment at the end.
